20 Dollar Penny Board for Sale

Although the term penny board has become synonymous with the shortboards, few people know that the name actually comes from an Australian company that first introduced them. Inspired by the boards of the ’70s, Penny Skateboards released the 22-inch plastic board in 2010.

The boards became an overnight hit and started a new trend that is still in fashion today. Shortly after, many other companies began producing the so-called “penny boards” with prices ranging from $20 to $200. While most of them have decks made out of plastic, you will be able to find some short boards with maple decks, which are much more durable. The only downside is that you will have to change the grip tape from time to time.

The Best Low-Cost Penny Boards on the Market

Nowadays, the internet and the skateboard shops are full of penny boards, and sometimes picking the right one might seem overwhelming, especially if you’re looking for an entry-level product.

Retrospec Quip Skateboard 22.5″ Classic Retro Plastic Cruiser Complete Skateboard

The Retrospec Quip is probably one of the best boards you can buy for under $20 right now. It’s a 22.5″ x6″ penny board made out of flexible but sturdy plastic available in multiple colors. It’s lightweight (only 3.5lbs) and easy enough to carry around even in your backpack so that you can take it anywhere with you.

The board comes fully assembled and ready to use with a deck that has a custom-molded pattern for a better grip. The deck is strong enough to handle up to 220lbs, which means it can handle most people and even a fit bear.

Riding the Retrospec Quip is relatively smooth thanks to the 5″ metal trucks, ABEC-7 high-speed carbon bearings, and polyurethane cast wheels. Still, we’re talking about a 22.5″ x6″ penny board, so don’t expect it to be very maneuvrable.

The biggest downside of this penny board is that, because of the bright colors, it gets dirty quickly, so you’ll have to spend a lot of time cleaning it. Also, when you first take it out of the box, you might have a hard time removing the plastic wrapping around the bearings.

All in all, this is a good penny board to buy if you’re on a budget. But you had better act fast! Many times, these boards gain some amount of popularity and the prices may rise! Be on the lookout for boards that are $20 or under, but don’t be surprised if these high-quality boards go for as much as $50.

Retrospec Ten Toes Quip Complete Skateboard 22.5″ Classic Plastic Mini Cruiser Skateboards

This is another ’70s style inspired penny cruiser by Retrospec. The board has a 22.5″ x6″ injection-molded plastic deck with a special pattern for an excellent grip.

Although this deck is one of the cheapest available, it has some of the best bearings available on the market, ABEC-7 made out of high-quality carbon. These, along with the polyurethane cast wheels and 5″ metal trucks, provide a reasonably smooth ride, as long as you don’t try to ride it on rough asphalt.

The Retrospec Ten Toes Quip is pretty strong as well. The deck is made out of strong plastic and can withstand a weight of up to 220lbs without breaking down the middle. The only downside, for some people, is the color. It comes only with a translucent deck, which can get dirty very fast.

For its price, this board actually provides a great experience. It is easy to ride, agile (as long as you keep in mind that it’s a penny board, not a longboard), and strong enough to withstand everyday use, making it even a great way of commuting.

The Sk8memo mini cruiser is ready to use out of the box and also comes equipped with 3″ pro iron trucks, ABEC-7 high-speed bearings, and polyurethane cast wheels.

Your kid is going to have a great time learning how to skate on this mini cruiser. The deck is small enough for them to learn how to steer, and the bearings and wheels are good enough to provide a smooth ride on asphalt or even on your rug if the fibers are short enough.

The mini cruiser has a sturdy 22×4.72″ 6-ply Canadian maple deck that can support skaters up to 275 lbs, 85A PU wheels with ABEC-9 bearings, and 95A High rebound PU bushing, which ensure a smooth ride on almost every surface. The wheels also come with colorful LED lights that don’t require any batteries, for extra safety and more fun. You probably won’t find a skateboard with better parts for less than $20. Because it is a skateboard with a wood deck, it also comes with a durable Emery grip tape.

The KOON mini cruiser is a great gift for your kids, especially if they are just starting out. The deck is durable enough to withstand many bumps and hirs while your little ones are learning and, given the max weight limit, you can even hop on to show them a trick or two.
