Why Mini Logo is a Superior Grip Tape Brand
Mini Logo manufactures everything skateboarding related, from decks to trucks to wheels to grip tape. If you’ve ever used one of their products before you know that they are a top-quality brand, one of the best in the industry. The same goes for the Mini Logo grip tape. If you search the internet and read any Mini Logo griptape review you’ll see that the majority of riders who use it are more than satisfied with the quality. A lot of riders even compare the Mini Logo grip tape to the ones sold by Jessup, Black Diamond, Black Magic, or MOB.
In fact, a lot of people agree that there isn’t much difference between grip tape brands. So why pay more for the same thing?
Older, more experienced riders prefer one brand over the other simply because they’ve used it for a while and are afraid of change. But for new riders, price should be the only factor when buying grip tape. So, if you don’t want to pay more, Mini Logo is the way to go.
Easy to Apply
The first thing you will see when purchasing a Mini Logo grip tape is how easy it is to apply it to your board. Adhering it is pretty simple, as is cutting the excess, as long as you are using a sharp blade. The Mini Logo grip tape has a great adhesive that will stick to your board for long periods and won’t peel off even if you use it in harsh weather conditions. Just remember to smooth out the edges once you’re done cutting it. Otherwise, it might start peeling at the edges soon after you start using your board.
The next thing you’ll notice is how good the grip is. The Mini logo tape is made with Silicon Carbide Mineral Grit that provides superior control. In fact, the grip is so good that some skateboarders complain about getting scratches from it, right after it was freshly applied. Still, this isn’t as grippy as the MOB one for example, that many skaters need to sand down a little before use.
Lasts a Long Time
Just like all other premium brands, the Mini Logo grip tape has great durability. It is thick and made using multi-layered laminates, to give you the grip you need to perform tricks for the longest time possible. How often you need to change it really depends on your style, but you should expect it to last as long as the other, more expensive brands
Don’t Expect Many Designs
When it comes to colorways and designs, Mini Logo is way behind the competition. While brands like Black Diamond or Grizzly sell grip tape with great graphics of designs, Mini Logo only offers the classic black, and transparent. Below is an image that gives some examples of what kinds of grip tape you can get from Black Diamond. Click the image to see more.
There’s not much to say about the black Mini Logo grip tape, other than the fact that is available in different sizes. Your main choices are either 9” x 33” or 10” x 33”. Mini Logo also sold a 9” x 60” grip tape roll, but, unfortunately, it was discontinued a while ago. You can still find it at some online, or even local, stores, but probably not for long.
The transparent, or clear, Mini Logo grip tape on the other hand is anything but regular. The clear tape allows you to show off any awesome graphics your deck might have. Plus, it’s as cheap as the black one. Not only that, but the clear tape sheet is also wider, which means you can use it on bigger decks. At some online stores, you can also find 10.5” x 48” clear Mini Logo grip tape, which means you can apply it to a longboard as well.
Some skaters stay away from clear grip tape because it’s not as good as the regular one. The Mini Logo clear tape provides a grip as good as the regular one, so you don’t have to worry about a thing.
Like we said in the beginning, Mini Logo products cost less than industry norms, grip tape included. Given that it’s a pretty cheap product to start with, don’t expect the price difference to be that big. You can usually find a regular, black 9” x 33” sheet of Mini Logo grip tape for as low as 5 dollars. Most other brands have a starting selling price of 7 or 8 dollars, or more if the tape has any kind of design on it, so by switching to Mini Logo you could end up saving a couple of dollars on every sheet of tape. That might not seem like much, but if you are one of those skaters who changes grip tape once a week, you’ll start noticing the difference pretty soon. The same goes for other Mini Logo skating products as well. After all, why pay 100 dollars for a deck, when a 40 dollar one is just as good.
Mini Logo is a superior grip tape brand with affordable prices. Their product is easy to put on your deck and provides lots of grip for long periods of time. The only downside of the Mini Logo grip tape is that it lacks any cool designs. On the plus side, if your skateboard does have some great graphics on it, you can buy a Mini Logo clear grip tape so that everyone can see it.
If you are looking to change the grip tape on your board, give Mini Logo a try. You won’t regret it.
